{Synopsis} – Once upon a time, in faraway Grimmlandia . . .

Sleeping Beauty — who just goes by her middle name, Rose — has always been a daredevil. But according to her fairy tale, after her twelfth birthday Rose must avoid all sharp objects. That isn't easy at Grimm Academy, where enchanted items can also be dangerous. Rose will have to stay wide awake to keep out of trouble-and to find her magic charm!

{My thoughts} – Rose, which is short for Briar Rose is the newest student to be attending Grimm Academy. This book is about her overcoming her curse while helping to save Grmmlandia to the best of her ability.

Rose is the newest student at the Academy and she has a secret. She is also the princess in which the Sleeping Beauty tale had been written for and or about. She is eleven year-old right now and is suppose to turn twelve in a week, at that point she has to be on the look out for all things dangerous. Her parents decided to send her to the Academy as a means of trying to protect her from the curse that had been bestowed upon her when she was born.

Her first night at the Academy she ends up sleep walking and then wakes up in the Grimm Brothers special room within the library. While she is there she discovers a lot of strange things are taking place. Once she leaves there and makes her way to her classes even stranger things start happening like one of her teachers bringing up her fairytale in class and causing to get her upset and her outing herself as Sleeping Beauty which is something she didn’t want to happen.

After everyone learned she was Sleeping Beauty some of the students began treating her differently because they didn’t know if they could trust her or not. It appears that somehow the members of E.V.I.L. are at it again and are truly trying to destroy Grimmlandia. This time though the plan is to take the place down by using Rose’s curse. They seemingly found a way to rewrite her fairytale and make her seem evil and used her fairytale to also try and make all the individuals that are not a member of E.V.I.L. to fall asleep for 100 years. In that time they figured they could rule and destroy as they pleased.

Rose and a few of her friends come to find out that as they are reading her tale it is changing and then they believe that she isn’t as evil as her tale would suggest so then they have to come up with a way to foil E.V.I.L.’s plan. The question is however, can they foil the plan that is currently in motion?

This book is well written like the rest in the series and I have truly enjoyed reading it. I look forward to reading the next book in the series as soon as I am able. I truly enjoy reading all sorts of fairytale rewrites and this is one of the most brilliant ones I have come across in modern day!

I highly recommend this series for children that love fairytales and want to get a different spin on them. I am certain that all children can learn a thing or two from these books about friendship, teamwork and just being children.

Final Conclusion: 5 Star Rating.
