I was up rather late last night finishing #Murdertrending by Gretchen McNeil you can read my review here. This book was incredible on so many different levels. I enjoyed every aspect of it.

The basis of the story is about Dee Guerrera she is convicted and sent to live on Alcatraz 2.0 where she will live an ordinary but not so ordinary life. The objective of Alcatraz 2.0 is to serve justice to all those individuals that had committed heinous crimes. Dee swears from the very beginning that she is innocent and that she doesn’t belong there. When you think about it though, who would admit that they actually belonged in such a horrible place?

This particular book takes place on Alcatraz Island. Alcatraz Island is infamous for being used as a United States Prison {Alcatraz penitentiary} from 1934 – 1963. Three of the most well-known inmates that had been housed at Alcatraz were Al Copone, George “Machine Gun” Kelly and Robert Stroud. I’m sure you’ve heard of at least one of the three I have listed. There were more then 1,500 inmates housed there from the time it had opened until the time it had closed.

Since it had become such a popular landmark due to it being a penitentiary so many individuals have an interest in it. There have been numerous movies that have used it as it’s set and numerous nonfiction and fiction books written about it.

If you don’t know where Alcatraz Island is located it is 1.5 miles off the shore of the San Francisco Bay in California. The Island occupies 22 Acres of land. It closed in 1963 due to the cost of upkeep being exponentially more then that of the Federal penitentiaries on the mainland.

I have always had an interest in this particular penitentiary and would love the opportunity to see it first hand. There are so many different travel opportunities when it comes to this particular landmark.

The Best of the West {Summer 2019} would make an incredible trip if you are interested in getting a look at Alcatraz Island. It’s a 12 day guided tour that begins in Los Angeles and ends in San Francisco. You’ll have the opportunity to visit eight wonderful cities. On Day 11 you’ll be in San Francisco where you’ll have the opportunity to some free time. This would be a great time to travel over and see Alcatraz Island. If you plan the trip in advance you can get tickets for a tour on the Island where you can explore inside the Penitentiary.

There are so many other remarkable locations that you’ll have the opportunity to see while on this particular trip. The Hollywood Walk of Fame, the legendary TCL Chinese Theatre, Historic Old Town San Diego, San Diego Scenic Harbor Cruise, Cleveland National Forest, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam Excursion and Mob Museum, Yosemite National Park and so much more.

This is definitely a must see location on my bucket list! How about yours?
