{Mice Capdes:  Diana G. Gallagher}

{Synopsis} – The science fair at Kyle and Mia's school is going great until the mice from a classmate's experiment make a break for it! With two runaway mice on the loose, it leads to some unexpected mice capades.

{My thoughts} – I really enjoyed this book. It’s about three friends Kyle, Mia and Ryan that are in the fourth grade. They have a science fair that they have to do experiments for in class. Ryan picks an experiment with mice, Kyle one with baseball bats and Mia one with gardening. They have a week to conduct the experiment and record their progress and present it to the class. Ryan’s experiment is the focus of the book. His experiment helps to show the readers the do’s and don’ts with mice. It shows what can happen to first time mice pet owners and it shows how clever and not so clever mice can be.

I like how at the end of the book his mom says he can’t keep the mice and they become class pets as well. I know that wouldn’t happen per say, but it is neat. When I was in fourth grad my class had pet gerbils named Itchy and Scratchy. The class took care of them all summer in their homes and they went on to join us in 5th & 6th grade. Sadly they didn’t live to 7th grade. But this book reminded me of that time in my life.

I also like how the book ends with discussion questions and gives you something to think about. I think any child can benefit from the thought process after finishing such a wonderful book. I look forward to seeing what my own children think of this book once I let them read it.

Final Conclusion: 5 Star Rating.
