{My thoughts} – Maren is a 6th Grade girl with a crush on a singer named Luke Lewis. Her mom is never around for her birthday so she celebrated her half birthday with her mom and her real birthday with her dad.

On this half birthday her mom surprises her with tickets to see the new Luke Lewis concert. On the Radio they have a competition to see who can show how much they love Valley View and earn the right to meet Luke Lewis. Maren and her friends go into over drive to make a wonderful Scrapbook to turn in for the competition. They put a lot of work and a lot of thought in it. The day she is suppose to mail it out it goes missing from her locker at school.

The day of the concert comes and goes and she sees the winner of the competition truly earned it. Although, she is bitter about it she does eventually accept it for what it was. Later on in the week her mom surprises her with another half birthday gift.

I do believe that this gift is the best one that her mom could have gave her. I also think that she handled herself fairly well all things considered.

I enjoyed this book for a few reasons. I like how it has the average who done it, then the slight mystery about what had happened to the scrapbook, the moving on and accepting what happened and then of course the happy ending.

This is a great fast read for anyone whose child enjoys fast reads that have an interesting story to go with them. It could be an easy way for some children to get their twenty minutes of reading in that are required for school reading logs!

Final Conclusion: 5 Star Rating.
