{Synopsis} – Jim Henson broke into television with a five-minute puppetry segment when he was only a freshman in college. He created puppets like none ever seen before, with expressive fabric faces and rod-controlled arms. His Muppets became world-renowned celebrities and formed the backbone of a media empire. With black-and-white illustrations throughout, this easy-to-read biography will be published twenty years after Henson’s untimely death.
{My thoughts} – Like most 1980’s children I grew up loving and knowing who the Muppets were. One of my favorite cartoons as a child was the Muppet Babies.
Jim Henson was a brilliant artist/ creator or imaginative things. He had a vision and he had the ability to make that vision come true. He had many ideas and many thoughts and suggestions as to how to go about making his Muppets well known and popular. He was a guy that was before his time when it came to his ability to making inanimate objects appear to be real. He figured out ways to do this without the use of computer graphics.
I learned quite a bit about him in this book that I didn’t already know. If you are wanting to learn about him and his life, this is a really good book to pick up and read. I look forward to sharing it with my children.
