{The Ugly Five: Julia Donaldson}

{The Ugly Five: Julia Donaldson}

{Synopsis} – Who’s that singing on the savannah? It’s the top-five ugly animals in Africa! The wildebeest, warthog, vulture, hyena and marabou stork swagger proudly across the savannah, rejoicing in their ugliness – and delighting their babies, who think they’re perfect just the way they are. Inspired by the real-life Ugly Five safari animals, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s brand-new picture book is a jubilant celebration of animals who are often rather unloved. The funny, heart-warming rhyme is a joy to read aloud, while bold, comical illustrations bring the savannah spectacularly to life.

{My thoughts} – Who doesn’t enjoy a nice book that can be read or sang? This book is put together with the ideal that you can sing some of the lines and read others. It is rather catchy and it helps to show children some animals that they wouldn’t otherwise really know, since they aren’t widely known to children.

I really enjoy the moral of this story and I think that it has potential to teach children a very valuable lesson. That true beauty isn’t defined by how you feel about yourself. It is defined by how others perceive you as an individual.

I highly recommend this book for any child’s library. It has a wonderful moral and I think it can really benefit many children.

Final Conclusion: 5 Star Rating.
