A plane crash in the Amazon lands Cleo and Evan on the hunt for a valuable golden statue. They must find it — and their next key — to make it home alive. But the jungle is full of deadly creatures, raging rapids, and an all-too-familiar villain who wants nothing more than to trap them forever!
{My thoughts} – A wilderness adventure in the Amazon, is where Cleo and Evan are headed. This book opens up with them trying to sneak into the next adventure before their new librarian and his goons can follow them. They aren’t a fan of the new librarian since he is an evil librarian that is only out to help himself. The two children have learned that he is out to help himself and could care less about what happens to them in the process. When they get to the library they discover that he’d forced himself into the next book, they have no choice but to try and go after him, but they go about chasing him by using a key as opposed to prying his way into the book like he had done.
They see so many incredible things while being a part of this story. They also come super close to being hurt a couple of times, which helps to keep the reader on their toes. Cleo ends up making a new friend that not only follows her around but also helps her and Evan as well. They also meet a new character Gabriel that goes on this particular adventure with them and together they do their best to stop the evil librarian Locke from completing his mission and instead try to complete theirs.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It is apparent that the adventures that Cleo and Evan go on have the potential to pull you into their stories.
I recommend this book for any young reader that wants to go on an adventure. It’s an added bonus if they enjoy reading stories about the Amazon and even Sloths. There is so much that children can learn about working together and proper team work within the pages of this book. There are also some nice surprises within the pages as well that I hope to explore more in future books.
