{Synopsis} – Pick a book. Grow a Reader!

This series is part of Scholastic’s early chapter book line Branches, aimed at newly independent readers. With easy-to-read text, high-interest content, fast-paced plots, and illustrations on every page, these books will boost reading confidence and stamina. Branches books help readers grow!

Everything stinks! Alexander, Rip, and Nikki aren’t in the same class anymore. The monster notebook is missing. And a HONKing monster is sliming Stermont! Plus, actual smelly stuff is going missing all over town. Could all of these stinky things be connected? The S.S.M.P. will have to sniff out their latest monster!

{My thoughts} – Things don’t always go as Alexander and his friends think. In this book they are invited to Dottie’s birthday party. While they are there she is acting very strange. By strange I mean, it’s like she’d never seen a monster before. She tells them that she’s okay playing the game with them usually, but they are at her party and she more or less wants to golf. After all that is the real reason they are there, not to monster hunt.

The monster they are chasing today is different. It is strange and it loves foul smelling things. They also learn that it has the ability to sort of shape shift like some of the previous monsters they have had to deal with in the past. Alexander isn’t sure what to make of the events that unfolded and neither are his two best friends. All they know is that they will go another night and then hunt monsters again the next day.

I look forward to reading the next book in this series very soon.

Final Conclusion: 5 Star Rating.
