{Synopsis} – There was an old lady who swallowed a cake. I don’t know why she swallowed the cake. It was a mistake!

Scholastic’s Old Lady is more popular than ever, and in celebration she’s swallowing a cake… and a candle, and a sign, and some balloons, and a hat, and some gifts. Can you guess why?

Consistently topping the USA Today and Bookscan bestseller lists at holiday time, this evergreen Cartwheel series continues to surprise and delight. With a brand-new spin-off series that launched in Spring 2018 alongside this first original 32-page fully illustrated board book, our Old Lady is poised to soar to even greater heights in 2019!

{My thoughts} – There was an old lady who swallowed a cake. I don’t know why she swallowed the cake. It was a mistake!

The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Birthday Cake is a new spin on a classic birthday celebration.

The illustrations within the pages of the book go hand and hand with the text. I have always enjoyed how much repetition takes place within these particular books. They make incredible beginner readers for children. As a mom that loves to read to her children, and hopes to turn them in to readers, these books are fantastic!

In this particular book the old lady swallows everything that is needed for a birthday party. Once it gets to the end, they have a birthday party set up.

I recommend this book as a beginner reader. I also think that it would make a great story to read at a child’s birthday party as a time filler for little children. It can also make a great gift as well. This book has the potential to become so much more and be used for so much more! This series is incredible!

Final Conclusion: 5 Star Rating.
