{Synopsis} – Pick a book. Grow a Reader!

This series is part of Scholastic’s early chapter book line, Branches, aimed at newly independent readers. With easy-to-read text, high-interest content, fast-paced plots, and illustrations on every page, these books will boost reading confidence and stamina. Branches books help readers grow!

In book 6, a mysterious substitute teacher arrives at Eerie Elementary. Sam, Lucy, and Antonio think he must be up to no good! They follow him and discover he lives in mad scientist Orson Eerie’s old house! And he’s building a strange machine! Who is this substitute teacher? Is he trying to free Orson — to somehow bring him back to life for real?! Sam and his friends are about to find out!

{My thoughts} – I’ve come to love these Eerie Elementary books. In this one Sam’s class ends up getting a substitute teacher. The teacher ends up being a relative of Orson Eerie the guy that possesses the school.

The three hall monitors Sam, Lucy and Antonio discover the new substitute is actually on their side. Because of this the four of them work together to try and undo what Orson Eerie had done all those years ago that had allowed him the ability to make the school come alive.

If you’d like to know what happens you’ll need to read the book. Like the previous books in the series, I found it to be very much engaging for the reader. I look forward to reading more books in this series in the future.

I recommend this book for any beginner reader that is interested in slightly scary stories.

Final Conclusion: 5 Star Rating.
